Whales

These whales are made with a DIY Fluffies pattern. The standard size is about 15 cm high and 30cm long. There’s also a smaller version at approximately 8 centimeters high and 16 centimeters long.

Wrap scrap whales are a lovely size if you don’t have much scrap but still would like to have a keepsake animal made. They’re standard filled with my signature mulesing free merino wool sourced from sheep in Germany. The whales have cute little felt eyes. On request, plastic safety eyes (not suitable for kids under the age of 3 as a possible choke hazard) are available too.

If you’re interested in having your own custom wrap scrap whale made, don’t hesitate to contact me. You can find more information about prices and scrap size needed on the Prices and sizes page.

After I'd finished Leena, my lovely customer who had commissioned her for a friend fell in love... so I just had to make another one for her. After all, whales are small and only have a few pattern pieces (10, if you must know, including the eyes). That's very simple compared to the unicorns (who have 32, eyes excluded).

So here's Levi, non-identical twin brother to Leena (it's pure coincidence that their names start with the same letter, really!). Made out of Oscha Evenstar Narya, featuring felt eyes and stuffed with mulesing free merino wool.

He was a custom order and is not available for purchase.

Leena was a custom order, to be sent as a gift to a fellow Maker. I managed to send her off without a name, but we came up with Leena and so here she is!

She's made of Oscha Evenstar Narya (50% Organic combed cotton, 50% Tussah silk), stuffed with mulesing free merino wool and finished with felt eyes.

Working with Oscha's slubby tussah silk is always fun. It's not very hard to craft with but the nubs and slubs add such a great visual and tactile touch to my animals, I just love it.

Leena was a custom order and is not available for purchase.

Misty here was a 'quick sew' (although when I try to time my sewing time, they always take longer than I think they will ;)). She's part of the 'teacher' gift for when my now 4 year old girl gets to say goodbye to her old daycare group. She's missed them very much and is looking forward to the opportunity to say goodbye next week.

There are four 'teachers' so I had to make four of them, but I managed (yay) and my husband gets to organise something fun for the kids in her group, haha.

Misty is made of Oscha Misty Mountains Anduial scrap, stuffed with merino wool and finished with polyester eyes I had hidden away in a corner - not plastic-free felt but hey, waste not, want not.

Kal and Dos are twins. They have been lying in one of my drawers waiting to be sewn up... And the time has finally arrived!

They are to be part of my youngest's parting gift (for her main carers, not for all the kids 😅) at daycare, because she'll be 4 next month and that means she'll say goodbye (at some point, whether that will be around her birthday or later on) to the people who have lovingly cared for her and played with her 2,5 days a week for the past year. She's only moving one door away (literally, there is only one door between the room for the 3 year old kids and the 4-7 year old kids) but still, it's a Big Transition and she'll miss them. She has loved going for the four years that they've had her at daycare and I hope she'll continue loving it there because she'll be going there for the next 8 years too for the 2 days a week after school 😏.

These two are made with Oscha Andaluz Kaleidoscope fabric. They have polyester eyes and are stuffed with merino wool. Not available for purchase but as always, if you want one, message me and we can discuss the details ❤️

Meet Triton the whale!
He features Oscha Starry Night Poseidon's Child (hence the name, I've always been a fan of Greek mythology so I couldn't resist). This SN's blend is organic combed cotton and almost fluorescent "lime punch" hemp that refuses to shine in pics but is beautiful in real life.

He has felt eyes and is stuffed with German merino wool and he's the first whale I did since my special Oscha delivery - I may have to share those pics some day because they were a fun lot!

Triton is a custom order and not available for sale but don't hesitate to contact me if you'd like to have me make one for you ❤️, either from scrap you provide or scrap I have in stock.

Moby (that's what I get when I let my husband pick a name) is my first full-size whale (30cm long), made with Oscha Rei Bronze.
The 'wrong side' of the fabric was picked for Moby, but look at this guy, there is no 'wrong side' here! This particular fabric is 'pocket weave' too, so it's really soft and cuddly, very suitable for a stuffed animal.

He has Oscha Starry Night Midnight eyes, an experiment that I think turned out well. Stuffed with organic kapok and with the pocket weave it just doesn't get any softer than this.

Moby is a custom order and not available for purchase.
